Through 2002 to 2007, the Honda Pilot was chosen by the ‘Car and Driver’ magazine as the best large SUV. It is not as edgy to handle or as unpredictable as a truck – it’s a large SUV, smooth to handle and crisp. In 2008, it’s available in two trims – Value Package and Special Edition. It has 2WD versions and the VTM-4 four wheel drive system – when accelerating or when any wheel slippage might be detected, power is delivered to all four wheels. As 2WD, fuel economy is remarkable.

The Honda Pilot has a 3.5 litre 24 valve VTEC V6 engine, with 244-hp. It has a five-speed automatic transmission on both trims. The fuel economy of the Honda Pilot is owed to the fuel-saving cylinder-deactivation system the Honda Pilot boasts. It is one of the most trusted and most popular large SUV models that has ever hit the market. The 2008 Honda Pilot combines the essential features of a SUV – practicality, efficiency and value. To add to it all, it is also comfortable and sleek.

Safety and security have also not been ignored in the latest model of the Honda Pilot. The US National Highway Traffic Safety Association crash tested the Honda Pilot and gave it a five stars rating, for both driver and front passenger safety. It has anti-lock brakes that modulate brake pressure to prevent accidents, automatic stability control to help the driver maintain control, front-impact, side-impact and overhead airbags to prevent injuries in case of collision, pretensioners for the seat belts, rack-and-pinion steering and 282 degrees outward visibility. The rigid and sturdy unibody and the crush zones with high energy absorption are also important features.

For 2008, the Honda Pilot is priced between $27,600 (€17,800) and $35,600 (€22,900).
