2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser

2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser

It’s all-terrain, comfortable and safe. It’s the 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser, a reincarnation of the Toyota FJ 40, which was discontinued after 1984. An amazing look-alike of the Hummer, the new FJ Cruiser is a great option for those with a smaller budget. It comes in one model, but as three different trims ((4×2, 4×4 MT, and 4×4 AT).

Technically, the 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser is a four-door SUV with five-seater capacity. But, it’s more than what the eye sees. While it’s categorised as mid-sized SUV, it’s considerably larger and more spacious with both higher passenger and cargo capacities. The base engine is 4.0 litre V6 with 239-hp with five-speed automatic transmission. The full four-wheel drive version has a six-speed manual transmission as well. In terms of fuel economy, you can expect to get 16 mpg in city areas and around 20 mpg on the highway.

The standard features list goes on to include safety features such as side, front and curtain airbags, rollover detectors and tire pressure monitors, entertainment system with a MP3/WMA capable AM/FM/CD combo with six speakers and cabin air conditioning and heating filters. The Toyota STAR Safety System enabled in the 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser includes anti-spin vehicle stability control and rollover mitigation, traction control, brake-force distribution, brake assist and anti-lock brakes.

The 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser is simply a carryover from the 2007 model, with a few additional safety features. The FJ Cruiser has both pros and cons. For some, the great visibility provided from the high platform, the rugged chassis and armoured-truck-like appearance is appealing, while some people shun these same features.

Taken as a whole, the 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser is highly reliable, comfortable, has a good quality design, is an astute performer and fun to drive with economic fuel consumption.
