2008 Dodge Durango
2008 Dodge Durango
The new Dodge Durango has a tough design, handles well and is quite agile, despite the bulk and size. The spacious interior with sophisticated comfort and technological systems also contribute the Durango’s appeal. The traditional truck-platform SUV is capable of seating up to seven passengers, with the optional third-row seat. For 2008, the Dodge Durango has been introduced in four trims, including a hybrid version. A fully equipped 2008 Dodge Durango can tow up to 8950 pounds effortlessly.

The base engine for the 2008 Dodge Durango is a 210-hp, 3.7 litre V6. There are two V8 engines available optionally. The popular 235-hp, 4.7 litre V8 engine has been converted into the much speculated flex-fuel hybrid version, introducing a new 303-hp, 4.7 litre V8. The four trims available in 2008 are the SXT, SLT, Adventurer and Limited. All models are equipped with automatic transmission and 2WD or 4WD capabilities.

The SXT and SLT are rear-drive, so they are equipped with the base engine. All-wheel drive models have a low-range gear for off-road terrain and the 303-hp, 4.7 litre V8 engine is standard in them. A 335-hp, 5.7 litre Hemi V8 is available as an optional engine for all models except the SXT. This Hemi V8 engine operates on Chrysler’s Multi-Displacement System for cylinder deactivation, which helps with fuel efficiency. Expected fuel economy is 17 mpg on the highway and 13 mpg in the city.
Safety features in the new Dodge Durango include anti-lock brakes, anti-skid system and front, side and overhead airbags. The US National Highway Traffic Safety Association has rated the Durango 5/5 for both driver and passenger safety precautions. Other standard features in the new Durango include a navigation system, power-adjustable pedals, wireless cell phone link, DVD entertainment and rear obstacle detection.
